About Us

Grandpa Tasos’ Farm is a family company established in 2016. It produces traditional Greek products on the island of Zakynthos, in the Ionian Sea. The farm itself was created fifty years ago by a farmer and a lighthouse keeper, who welcomed tourists that first visited the island. Now, five decades later, his grandchildren have brought the farm back to life by turning it into a retail business. It produces honey, wine and virgin olive oil, all from the mountainous terrain of northern Zakynthos.

The philosophy of the farm is to continue the island’s long-standing tradition of local products, preserving its heritage. All products are organic, while no pesticides and chemical fertilizers are used.

Zakynthos Island

Zakynthos, also known as Zante, is an island located in the Ionian Sea. It is one of the most popular Greek islands, with rich history and tradition. The scenic beaches, including the popular “Shipwreck” beach, have made the island a perfect tourist destination for both independent travelers and families.

The history of Zakynthos is traced back to Homer, who mentioned it in both the Iliad and the Odyssey. He refers to Zakynthos, the son of King Dardanos of Phrygia, as the first inhabitant. It later participated in the Trojan War as a part of Odysseus kingdom. In the modern era, Zakynthos was conquered by the Republic of Venice, which ruled the island for more than three centuries, from 1485 to 1797. The culture and customs of the Venetians are still present in many villages of Zakynthos. The architectural style of Zakynthos is similar to that of Venice and has been influenced by the Neoclassicism, Mannerism, and Baroque. The dream of Zakynthians to unite with Greece after the Greek War of Independence was achieved on May 21 1864, after 680 years of foreign occupation.
